The Regulars
-
Dara O Briain
Having conquered his native Ireland, first as a stand-up and then on television hosting RTE's The Panel, Dara took on the world, and won. He rightly has the reputation of one of the best stand-up comedians around and has performed sell-out shows everywhere from London to Edinburgh, New York to Montreal and Dubai to Sydney. Now this mathematics and mathematical physics graduate is turning his lightning fast wit and incredible charm to television. From memorable performances on Have I Got News To You, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Q.I., Dara has seamlessly graduated to hosting Mock The Week and Turn Back Time and starring with Griff Rhys Jones and Rory McGrath in Three Men In A Boat.
-
Hugh Dennis
Early in his career, Hugh lent his voice to a number of the Spitting Image puppets and worked with Steve Punt, his long standing comedy partner and fellow Cambridge footlights graduate, on Jasper Carrott's TV shows. The pair then formed half of The Mary Whitehouse Experience (with David Baddiel and Rob Newman) and the rest, as they say, came later. After four seasons on BBC Radio 1, the show transferred to television and was a mega hit - comedy had become the new rock'n'roll. Since then Hugh, a Bishop's son, has been an almost permanent fixture on hit satirical shows on BBC Radio, including The Now Show, has performed in partnership with Steve Punt on TV and live, and plays the obnoxious GP Piers Crispin in the BBC One sitcom My Hero.
-
Andy Parsons
(a regular from series 4)Without doubt Andy is one of the top satirical comics in Britain today. He is a formidable live performer and seasoned radio star most often associated with long-time comedy partner Henry Naylor. Andy is an award-winning stand-up who has appeared not just throughout Britain but across the globe and is also a gifted comedy writer who has provided material for, amongst others, Spitting Image, Smith & Jones and Lenny Henry.
-
Chris Addison
(a regular from the second half of series 10 until the first half of series 12, returning in 2013)Chris is best known for his starring role on the BAFTA-winning comedy The Thick Of It and Oscar-nominated feature film In The Loop. In addition, Chris has reprised his role as Professor David Blood on Channel 4's Skins and appeared on a variety of entertainment shows including the BBC's Live at the Apollo, QI and Have I Got News For You, and Channel 4's 8 Out Of 10 Cats. As a live performer he has taken five solo shows to the Edinburgh Fringe (two of which saw him nominated for the Perrier Award), and Chris is also the author of two books: It Wasn?t Me and Cautionary Tales for Grown-Ups (both Hodder & Stoughton), while his radio credits include 7 Day Sunday on BBC Radio 5 Live, and the Sony Award winning The Ape That Got Lucky, Charm Offensive, Political Animal, Civilisation and The Department, all BBC Radio 4.
-
Russell Howard
(a regular from series 4 to 8)Bristol-based Russell is a rising comedy star. He has made a name for himself as a terrific stand-up as far afield as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where he was nominated for the prestigious Perrier Comedy Award and the Montreal Just For Laughs comedy festival. Russell is an experienced radio performer and presented BBC Radio 6music's Sunday morning show.
-
Frankie Boyle
(series 1 to 7)After more than ten years as an increasingly successful stand-up and comedy writer, Frankie has made an indelible impression on television audiences. Having appeared on BBC Scotland's Live Floor Show (which incidentally was hosted by our very own Dara O Briain), Frankie became a regular on Mock The Week where his razor sharp comedy leaves everyone laughing and occasionally wincing. He has since appeared on 8 Out Of 10 Cats, They Think It's All Over and The Law Of The Playground and is currently writing and developing two new shows for Channel 4.
-
Rory Bremner
(series 1 & 2)One of Britain's foremost impressionists, Rory has been at the top of his game and on our television screens for over fifteen years. His uncanny ability to mimic politicians, sportsmen, media stars, indeed almost anyone he wishes has to resulted in him a number of successful TV shows including the award-winning Bremner, Bird and Fortune for Channel 4. Rory has also appeared a number of times very successfully on Whose Line Is It Anyway? and was a regular guest on the first two series of Mock The Week.
